Two star-studded new films are both to be shot in southern China's Yunnan province.
They are "Temuzhen: Battle of the Seven Wings" and "Mountain Woman".
"Temuzhen: Battle of the Seven Wings" is about the Mongol tribal chief Temuzhen's seven day battle against the Tartars to avenge the death of his father. Temuzhen later became Genghis Khan after unifying the Mongols.
Director Stanley Tong is lobbying Jackie Chan to play Temuzhen although veteran actor Chen Daomin has also been tipped for the role.
The cast also includes Chen Hao, Wang Gang, Chen Gangwu and several Shaolin monks and national martial-arts champions. Shooting will begin in May or June in the grasslands of Yunnan Province.
The other film "Mountain Woman" follows the story of a woman called Shan Nv, who raises an abandoned Japanese girl at the end of World War II. The girl grows up to become a great musician. Shan Nü is played by Dongfang Wenying while Chen Gangwu takes on the role of an old musician. |
