Taiji boxing, a major branch of Chinese martial arts, is applying for inclusion on UNESCO's list of world intangible cultural heritage.
The Jiaozuo Taiji Boxing Research Association is making the application.
Taiji boxing is considered the essence of Chinese Kung Fu, which combines body building and defence with classic Chinese philosophy, namely the Taoist concepts.
Chenjiagou near Jiaozuo city is considered where the art originated and has attracted Taiji lovers and learners from around the world for many years.
The city has invested over 100 million Yuan in the protection and development of Taiji Boxing in Chenjiagou and holds regular competitions. |
