The 1st Hong Kong International Wushu Competition

Regulations

 

1.  Duration and location: February 10-14, 2006 Hong Kong International Trade & Exhibition Center Underground Hall, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong

2.  Competition events (See Appendix 1 for details.)

(1)   Chang Quan Series

(2)   Nan Quan Series

(3)   Tai Chi Quan Series

(4)   Mulan Quan Series

(5)   Others Traditional Quan styles Series

(6)   Other Traditional Weapons Styles Series

(7)   Pair Routine Series

(8)   Group Routine Series

 

3.  Time limit for each event:

(1)   Single and pair routines (Tai Chi and Mulan Quan excluded): must not exceed more than 2 minutes.

(2)   Tai Chi Quan, Mulan Quan, and Single and Pair Routine (weapons) must not exceed 4 minutes.

(3)   Group events: must not exceed 4 minutes.

(4)   There is no lower limit for the above Series: For Tai Chi, Single and Pair Routines of Mulan Quan and Group events, 0.1 point will be deduced by Chief Referee for every 5 seconds (5 seconds included) exceeding the limited time. For other Single and Pair Routines, 0.1 point will be deduced by Chief Referee for every 2 seconds (2 seconds included) exceeding the limited time.

 

4.  Methods of registration:

(1)   All the Wushu associations, organizations, schools, professionals and lovers throughout the world may get in their entries individually or by forming teams.

(2)   Entries are not limited for groups, teams, persons and sexes. All participating groups can bear the name of sponsors. Groups with more than 10 Competitors may designate 1 referee (fees should be born by the groups).

(3)   Each athlete should choose not less than 2 events (including Pair Routines set and Group events) but not more than 5 events for entry (all-around Competitors should choose not less than 1 style of Quan and 2 types of weapons). Scores of the best three events (1 Quan, and 2 different weapons) will be added up as the final score.

(4)   For Group events, each team should have not less than 4 Competitors. Pure music accompany is allowed.

(5)   Ages and health conditions of the Competitors shall be checked by the teams or by Competitors themselves. The validity shall be subject to the sealed application form. In the case of any age beguilement, the qualification of the competitor will be canceled. Participating teams or individuals shall be responsible for any accidental injuries and deaths caused by health problems during the Games and bear relevant medical fees.

(6)   Participating teams or individuals shall purchase personal accidental injury insurance for the period of the games by their own. The organizing committee shall not be responsible for any accidents during the games.

 

5.  Details of Regulations:

(1)   The competition comprises of Single events, Group events, Combined group and Single all-around items.

(2)   The rules and regulations being used in this competition formulated by the International WuShu Association and all additional rules of information will be included in this regulation.

(3)   Competition age categories:

(A).     10 and under 10 years old (born after January 1, 1996)

(B1).   11-15 years old (born between 1991 and 1995)

(B2).   16-19 years old (born between 1987 and 1990))

(C1).   20-29 years old (born between 1977 and 1986)

(C2).   30-39 years old (born between 1967 and 1976)

(D1).   40-49 years old (born between 1957 and 1966)

(D2).   50-59 years old (born between 1947 and 1956)

(E1).   60-69 years old (born between 1937 and 1946)

(E2).   70 and above 70 years old (born before December 31, 1936)

(4)   Competitors shall wear Wushu/Kungfu costumes during the games. There is no unified stipulation for materials, colors or styles. However, costumes should reflect rich characteristics of the country, nationality, sports, times and the items.

(5)   Since Tai Chi and Mulan Quan stipulate no more than 4 minutes for Quan fight and weapon fight, Competitors can cut down movements and reassemble the routines by themselves. As long as the Competitors do not have movements disagreeable with the original routine or style, scores will not be deduced.

(6)   Competitors can start or end the movements at any positions of the venue. There is no stipulation for directions or positions. Performance will not be limited within the field. When any body parts touch the ground outside the field, scores will not be deduced.

(7)   To encourage the exploration, inheritance and development of the traditional Wushu items, awards are presented to every Competitors of each age group. Fighting items shall be performed by pairs from the same team.

(8)   Costumes and equipments should be prepared by Competitors themselves.

 

6.  Rankings and awards

(1)   Awards are presented to the top 8 places of each event, routine, age group and sex.

(2)   Awards are presented to the top 8 places of Pair Routines and fights according to different classifications, age groups (decided by the age of the eldest), male group, female group and mixed group.

(3)   The top three of the Single and Pair Routines will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates respectively. The rank 4 - 8 will receive certificates, the rank 9 and after will receive certificates of distinction.

(4)   Awards are presented to the top 8 places of each group event and age group (decided by the age of the eldest). The top three will be awarded cups, team certificates and individual medal. The rank 4 – 8 will be awarded cups and team certificates, the rank 9 and after will receive certificates of distinction.

(5)   Refer to Item 7 for all-around individual and Group events.

6. All the Competitors will have souvenirs.

 

7.  Prize and Distributions:

To encourage the all-around development of the competitors, the organizing committee allocates more than 50 thousand Hong Kong Dollars for prize. Distributions of each prize are as follows:

(1)  Group prizes

(1-1)   Places: the championship, the runner-up, the bronze, fourth place, fifth place and sixth place

(1-2)   Prizes: the championship, 12000 Yuan; the runner-up, 8000 Yuan; the bronze, 4000 Yuan; fourth place, 3000 Yuan; fifth place, 2000 Yuan; sixth place, 1000 Yuan. Each of the former three will be given a cup and the latter three a medal.

(1-3)   Scoring

a)     A team with not less than 8 competitors will be regarded as a scoring unit. Each unit can have several subunit numbering as A, B, C,.. etc. Scores for teams of more than 8 players will be settled by the total scores of the best 8 players. Team with the highest score wins the championship, team with the second highest score the runner-up, etc.

b)     In the case of even scores, the place of the team will be decided by counting the number of first place, second place, and third place… of the 8 players in individual events.  

(2)  Individual all-around prizes

(2-1)   Places: the championship, the runner-up, the bronze, fourth place, fifth place and sixth place

(2-2)   Prizes: the championship, 10000 Yuan; the runner-up, 5000 Yuan; the bronze, 2500 Yuan; fourth place, 1500 Yuan; fifth place, 1000 Yuan; sixth place, 500 Yuan. Each of the former three will be given a cup and the latter three a medal.

(2-3)   Scoring

a.     Individual final score is the total of the best scores of one Quan and two different weapon sets. Person with the highest score win the championship, person with the second highest score the runner-up, etc.

b)     In the case of even scores, the place of the individual will be decided by counting the number of first place, second place, etc, of single items. If still even, the place will be decided by counting the number of first place, second place, etc, of items other than the all-around three items.

Notes:

1.     The winners will win certificates as well as prizes, cups and medals.

2.     If there is any problem with the awards, the results will be subject to the final verdict made by the arbitration committee together with Chief Arbitrator.

 

8.  Application, Check-in

(1)   Application: Application forms should be filled out correctly with participants, events and member number of the entourage (See Appendix 2 for the application form. Save the copy.) and be mailed or faxed to the 1st Hong Kong International Wushu Competition Organizing Committee before December 15, 2005.

(2)   Two 2-inch recent photos (with names marked on the back) and a copy for ID card or birth certificate are required.

(3)   The application fee and participation fee (not for non-participants) are required for application formalities.

(4)   After checking the application information, the organizing committee shall send out official invitations for participants to apply for entry to Hong Kong.

(5)   Participants should remit event fees and fees for hotel, transportation, meals and sightseeing to the organizing committee within 15 days after the receipt of official invitation.

(6)   Once the application form is submitted, no changes are allowed. For special cases, participants should submit written applications and pay commission at 200 Yuan/person/event.

(7)   In the case that participants can not participate in the games, the organizing committee will return 100 Yuan application fee and 100 Yuan participation fee to those who apply in 10 days after the deadline of the application (24 pm December 25, 2005) but none to those who apply after the prescribed period.

(8)   Participants who have troubles with entry to Hong Kong may submit written applications to the organizing committee in 60 days before the opening of the xompetition. The organizing committee will entrust China Travel Service with relevant travel documents. Fees will be charged separately.

(9)   All participating teams should check in at Hong Kong on February 10, 2005 and send one leader or coach for the meeting on the night.

9.  Cost

(1)  Application fee: 350 Yuan/person (Leader of the delegation, coach, competitors, accompanied referee and the entourage)

(2)   Participation fee: 200 Yuan/person (those who do not participate in the games do not have to pay)

(3)   Event fee: for single and Pair Routines, 380 Yuan/person/event; for Group events, 200 Yuan/person/event

(4)   Hotel, transportation, meals and sightseeing fees: 3580 Yuan/person (quasi-four star hotel, transportation means in Hong Kong and between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, means of 5 days and 4 nights, sightseeing -- Disneyland, Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, Floating Restaurant and Golden Bauhinia Square, and banquet). Competitors can be exempted from fees of four events (two Single events, one Pair  event and one Group event, which can not be switched). For those participating in more than that included four events, 380 Yuan will be charged for each event. (The details of Competition schedules, please refer to Appendix 3).

(5)   Fees for exclusive hotel and transportation: 2550 Yuan person (quasi-four star hotel, four breakfasts, transportation in Hong Kong and between Shenzhen and Hong Kong). Competitors can be exempted from fees of four events (two single events, one Pair event and one group event, which can not be switched). For those participating in more than that included four events, 380 Yuan will be charged for each event.

Notes:

a.     Hotel accommodation: two persons per room. If single room is required, fee difference will be added to the charged. If a extra person (total sun of attendant, male or female) is come out, a extra bed will be added in one of the room.

b.     All fees should be settled in Hong Kong Dollar (or in RMB for participations from China Mainland, the exchange Rate being 1:1)

c.     Due to the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland on September 12, 2005, all hotels are greeting a busy season and can hardly accommodate all the people. Therefore, the organizing committee would appreciate that all participants, people of Wushu industry and the entourage apply for the games and pay all relevant fees at the earliest convenience before November 20, 2005. For those applying after November 20, the organizing committee will do their best to settle down the accommodation.

Notes:

Check-in shall be in line with the Competition schedule. Competitors from China Mainland, assembling in Shenzhen, shall get to and leave Hong Kong by the bus arranged by the Competition. (See Appendix 3 for the schedule.)

The schedule of the Competition (hotel, meals, transportation, travel, etc.) is arranged and undertaken by the listed Hong Kong China Travel Service Co. Ltd.
